PhD position: Type Systems for Concurrency (Groningen, The Netherlands).
[Apologies for cross-posting; please forward to any excellent students you might know.] # PhD position in Type Systems for Concurrency - Groningen, The Netherlands We invite applications for one fully-funded PhD position on type systems for concurrency, co-supervised by Jorge Pérez and Dan Frumin (Groningen) and Robbert Krebbers (Nijmegen). The successful candidate will explore the semantic foundations of type systems for message-passing concurrency (e.g., session types), employing techniques like logical relations and coalgebras, and establishing rigorous connections with frameworks like Iris [1] and program logics like Actris. Based at the University of Groningen, the successful candidate will benefit from, and contribute to, the research environment of "Cyclic Structures in Programs and Proofs", a 5-year consortium funded by the Dutch Research Council (NWO) [2]. The ideal candidate has proven research experience in one or more of the following: semantics of programming languages, concurrency theory, type systems, logics such as linear logic and separation logic, and proof assistants. Prior knowledge of session types and Rocq/Iris is not a prerequisite, but it would be an advantage. Applicants must have (or be close to completing) an MSc in Computer Science, Logic, Mathematics (or a related field) and possess strong communication skills (oral and written) in English. Please contact <j.a.perez@rug.nl> to submit your application, or if you have questions about the PhD position. Your application should include: (1) a motivation letter (max 2 pages), (2) your CV, (3) grade transcripts for your BSc/MSc degrees, and (4) two contacts for recommendation letters. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. To receive full consideration, submit your application by **Friday, October 30, at 23:59 AoE (Anywhere on Earth)**. The intended starting date is **February 2027** or shortly thereafter. [1] https://iris-project.org/ [2] https://cyclic-structures.nl/ -- Jorge A.
